To whom it may
concern:
I am a student at the San Diego City College where I have completed
the work for my Associates Degree in the Technical
Illustration program and am continuing my extracurricular study of
computer science, web design, and programming . I am also attending this
fall semester in order to complete one last engineering class in order
to obtain an Emphasis in Engineering to accompany my degree. I am
currently seeking employment where my Computer Science,
Graphics and Computer Aided Design skills can be utilized. I
have also attended courses at the Center City Skills Center where I have
studied Administrative Office Systems, Microsoft Applications Software,
and Web Design.
June 7 of 2001 I was awarded an Associated Student Body Scholarship
based on the recommendation from one of my teachers. The recommendation
for this scholarship stated..."When something didn't work out as
indicated in the lab book he was relentless in figuring out why, and had
no problem starting over if necessary to get it right. Because of his
persistence, he really learned the software well. Not only does he know
how to use it effectively but he also has learned what most computer
students takes years to develop - problem solving.
January 17, 2002 I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, which
is the international honor society for two year college students. This
invitation stated that as a result of my outstanding academic
performance I had become eligible for membership in this prestigious
organization. The important criteria for admission are a record of
academic achievement (measured by the number of course units
successfully completed) and cumulative grade point average. My current
GPA is 3.74 at San Diego City College.
July 17, 2002 I was further honored by the National Dean's List
Publication when they asked for permission to publish my biography in
the 25th annual edition. I have continued to make the Dean's list the
last four consecutive semesters. This publication is where 2500 of the
country's universities and colleges pay tribute to their best students
with this special award given to only one half of one percent of college
students.
June 5, 2003 A
Technical Illustration presentation, that I designed and created with
SolidWorks won best in show at the Best in Show in the Technical
Illustration Student Division and my website design took second
place in the self promotional student division contest.
Since my return to college, I have worked part-time through a temporary
employment agency (Pacific Beach Employment Center) where I have worked
for numerous small companies. I have been employed part time at Vandershuit Studio where some of my duties included shipping and
receiving, data entry, computer tech, and other office related work;
occasionally, I work for others such as Point Loma Electric, Robinson
Construction, and Palmer Masonry and Concrete as a day laborer. I am
currently seeking employment with an organization that provides good
benefits as well as some room to expand within the organization as my
experience and education grows. While resumes are simply a statement of
facts, my true qualifications can be discussed in detail during a
personal interview. Thank you for any time and consideration. I hope to
hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
William Simmons
